How to make a pumpkin pie

To celebrate thanksgiving we wanted to share a very special pumpkin pie recipe. So we invited Marine Diet to help us show you this American delicacy ;)

Ingredients:

The Tart Shell

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1/3 cup of white sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold

1 large egg yolk

The Filling

1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin

1 (14 ounce) can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 large eggs

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground ginger

½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

½ teaspoon salt

Instructions:

Tart Shell

  1. Place the flour, sugar, and salt in  a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender, until the mixture resembles bread crumbs. 
  3. Add the egg yolk, and stir until the dough gathers itself into a ball and pulls away cleanly from the sides of the bowl.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to a thickness of about 1/8-inch.
  5. Press the dough gently into the tart pan(s), trimming away any excess.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes at 170 degrees. 

Pumpkin Filling

  1. Whisk pumpkin, sweetened condensed milk, eggs, spices and salt in medium bowl until smooth. Pour into crust. Bake for 20 minutes at 170 degrees. 

There you have it, a thanksgiving favourite. Its so incredibly easy and then Tara’s personal favourite treat.
